Why use Tara's products?

One of the problems with introducing a new line of cosmetics or beauty products is the fact that women (and men) have already tried so many products in the past — products for which glowing claims were made, but maybe the products just didn't work that way. That leaves them in a state of disbelieving such claims.

It's a little like the guy in The Goodbye Girl who found his position difficult because the heroine's previous boyfriend had left her — and now he, as the new guy, had to overcome the betrayal.

That is understandable. And yet, something has to be said about a product; else why would anyone use it if they don't know what it's supposed to do ? Which leaves us in another problem: with simple communication, how do we get you to believe what we say? How do we get past the many earlier betrayals of promises made and not kept?

Luckily, like the new boyfriend in the movie, not all products are alike.

I'm selling these products because I know that they're good. ~ Tara Walker

Tara did not start out to form a beauty product manufacturing company. Instead, she was successfully engaged in the design and manufacturing of linens and running of that company. But during that time, she researched, sought out ingredients and created natural skincare formulations for her own use. This might have been all there was to it, but for friends and associates who noticed and commented on her skin — and wanted to use whatever she was using.

Tara says: "I promised myself that if I ever manufactured these products, I would not consider price" in the choice of ingredients. "The most important issue to me is the quality of the ingredients."

But if you talk to a chemist about creating a skincare product — moisturizer, beauty cream, etc. — the first thing you will get is strong recommendations to use chemical substitutes for "real" ingredients. Why? Because chemicals are cheaper. And easier to obtain. Easier to deal with. But this brings us back to the beginning of this article, and may just give us a clue to why some products just do not work so well. Chemicals may be cheaper, and patentable, but they're not the same as natural ingredients.

Tara has not followed this precedent. Instead, she not only uses natural (and, in some instances, rare) ingredients, but she often uses many ingredients to attack a particular skin problem. That is, Tara's products "broadshoot" skin problems by providing a wider range of ingredients, each with slightly different effects, to address specific problems — so that if one ingredient doesn't do it, the next might. Of course, that calls for far more ingredients than is usual. And no chemical substitutes.
